The Genetic Blueprint for Your Racing Pigeons’ Performance¶
We specialize in Racing Pigeon Performance DNA testing, utilizing high-precision molecular diagnostics to analyze 8 critical gene loci known to influence speed, endurance, homing ability, and physical adaptation.
Our testing provides breeders, fanciers, and researchers worldwide with reliable genetic data for superior, data-driven breeding decisions.

Deep Dive: The 8 Key Performance Gene Loci¶
Pigeon Racing Genotypes and Breeder Significance¶
Understanding the function of these key gene loci helps breeders and fanciers optimize pairing and training for competitive advantage:
- LDHA (Lactate Dehydrogenase A):
- Function: Considered the “Speed Gene,” influencing anaerobic capacity and short burst performance.
- Breeder Benefit: Identify pigeons with a predisposition for elite short-distance speed and power.
- DRD4 (Dopamine Receptor D4):
- Function: Linked to navigation, cognitive function, and homing instinct.
- Breeder Benefit: Evaluate the bird’s sense of direction and adaptability for optimized training.
- CRY1 (Cryptochrome 1):
- Function: Involved in circadian rhythm regulation, impacting homing time and time perception.
- Breeder Benefit: Predict adaptability to long-distance and challenging weather conditions.
- MSTN (Myostatin):
- Function: Affects muscle growth, strength, and overall endurance capacity.
- Breeder Benefit: Identify genetic potential for superior muscle power and sustained flight.
- F-KER (Feather Keratin Gene):
- Function: Related to feather quality, structure, and aerodynamic efficiency.
- Breeder Benefit: Assess the aerodynamic performance and resilience of the wing structure.
- LRP8 (Lipoprotein Receptor-Related Protein 8):
- Function: Associated with energy metabolism and fatty acid utilization.
- Breeder Benefit: Predict efficiency in energy storage and utilization during long flights.
- GSR (Glutathione Reductase):
- Function: Influences antioxidant capacity and stress response during races.
- Breeder Benefit: Assess the bird’s ability to maintain health and recover quickly under high-stress racing conditions.
- CASK (Calcium/Calmodulin-Dependent Serine Protein Kinase):
- Function: Potentially linked to neurological function and learning.
- Breeder Benefit: Comprehensive assessment of the pigeon’s stability and cognitive traits.

FAQs¶
1. What sample types do you accept for DNA testing?
- Answer: We accept both feather samples (with intact root follicles) and DNA blood cards. We generally recommend sending feather samples as they are easier to collect and handle for shipping.
2. How should I package the samples to avoid contamination?
- Answer: Each sample (feather or blood card) must be individually packaged in a clean, clearly labeled paper envelope or plastic bag. It is critical to ensure that samples do not cross-contaminate one another during collection or shipment.
3. How can I pay for the testing services?
- Answer: For the convenience of our global clients, we recommend payment via Personal Bank Transfer or PayPal. Details for both payment methods will be provided on your submission form/invoice.
4. How long does the testing process take, and when will I receive the report?
- Answer: Once your sample arrives at our laboratory, the analysis typically takes 2–3 business days to complete. You will receive the comprehensive electronic test report immediately upon completion.
5. Do you only provide testing services, or do you also sell testing reagents and kits?
- Answer: We are a full-service provider. In addition to our professional DNA testing services, we also supply testing reagents and equipment. We sell kits for virtually all avian DNA testing applications, including performance, gender, and disease testing.
6. What if my samples are rejected?
- Answer: If a sample fails to yield sufficient DNA (usually due to improper collection, like a missing feather follicle), we will notify you immediately. We will usually re-test if you can provide a new, properly collected sample.
7. What species of pigeon can you test?
- Answer: Our core expertise is focused on Racing Pigeons, but our molecular diagnostics technology is compatible with testing the DNA of all common pigeon and dove species.
